«More than ever, architecture requires a time
of reflection which translates itself into a “density” and “intensity” of the project. As against
a superficial and “calligraphic” approximation,
a concrete and specific research relating to every element of architecture turns out to be
the only antidote». Francisco Mangado

Francisco Mangado (Navarre, Spain 1957),  who graduated in architecture at Navarre University in 1982, is an “all-round” intellectual figure who self-assuredly roams from an intensive professional activity from his Pamplona studio to keen research work in theoretical and academic circles.
Among the major works he has realised are the Equestrian Centre (Ultzama, Spain), the Exhibitions and Congress Centre (Avila, Spain), the Archaeological Museum (Vitoria, Spain), the Spanish Pavilion at Expo Zaragoza 2008, the Gamesa Eòlica Office Building (Sarriguren, Spain), the Centre for New Technologies (Santiago de Compostela, Spain), the Baluarte Football Stadium (Palencia, Spain), the CEIT Technological Research Centre (San Sebastiàn, Spain), the Office Building for Navarre University (Pamplona, Spain), the Navarre Congress Centre and Auditorium (Pamplona, Spain).
His work has won him several prizes and awards, among which the Saloni de Arquitectura 2007 prize for his Palencia stadium, the 7th ASCER Ceramic Architecture Awards for the Spanish pavilion at Expo Zaragoza, the Copper in Architecture Award of the European Copper Institute in London for his Archeological Museum at Vitoria, the FAD 2004 Prize for his Congress and Exhibition Centre in Pamplona.
He has been guest professor at Harvard University and visiting professor at Yale University. He currently lectures permanently at Navarre University and, as visiting professor, at the Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne.
In 2008 he founded the Fundación Arquitectura y Sociedad which pursues the dissemination of an architectural culture through reciprocal interactions with other disciplinary surroundings.
